I’ve always been busy with some kind of “physical fitness” or activity. High school was swimming and cheerleading – college was swimming and learning and teaching all sports -I went directly from student teaching to my first few gym jobs, training others and teaching high impact aerobics!! Fast forward to when my kids were 10 and 13 years old when I returned to the fitness field and became a Certified Trainer….this is when the activities really kicked into high gear. After playing 13 years of competitive tennis all around Houston, I started training for and participating in all total, 7 half marathons, 3 full marathons, and 12 MS 150 bike rides from Houston to Austin. But the kicker is……all this time I was eating anything and everything I wanted to and staying 20-30 pounds overweight the whole time. About 2 weeks after this “Before” picture was taken I went to the doctor because my blood pressure was off the charts and so was my weight along with my hormones. Well let me remind you that “YOU CAN’T OUT EXERCISE A BAD DIET” so since then I have researched many aspects of how to safely lose weight and keep it off. It’s a challenge to choose wisely at every meal, but I have found that over the years if you pay attention and keep track of the foods that do you more harm than good that it will help you keep your weight down close to optimum for your quality of life!!!
Keep moving and lift heavy things!!! Then no matter what you choose to do on any given day – you will be strong and able to go anywhere and do anything you want to do for the rest of your life!!
