My Journey to Fitness ~ Virginia Grimsley

post2

My journey to fitness actually began before Iron Strength came to fruition. Events in my life had shocked my body into early menopause.  I was gaining weight even though I was walking 5 miles a day. I was getting depressed with each added pound. That’s when I realized that I needed a trainer. I contacted Angie and explained what had been going on and she told me to come see her. She figured out a workout schedule and I began.  Yes, it was hard at first, but anything worth achieving is difficult. What I noticed the very first week was how energized I was after the workout. I felt GOOD! And best of all, the pounds started to come off.  It was exciting when I heard Angie was opening her own gym because I knew we would start doing new things.

The kettlebell was completely new to me. Thought it strange and a little dangerous at first. But, I grew very quickly to like it and actually enjoy using it. It is a tremendous workout without being too complicated.  For the last 3 1/2 years at ISKG,  Angie, Eric and Tara have always been encouraging, supportive and make the classes fun!!  They are certified in kettlebell training and they always make sure that we are using good form.  What they also include in their training is education. You have a clear understanding of not only how to do the exercises, but what you will gain from doing them.  I am amazed at how much strength I have acquired over the last year.  I have gone from being able to carry only two 20 kilo (44 lbs.) bells to comfortably carrying two 32 kilo (70 lbs) bells!   This strength came in really handy when traveling to Italy this summer. I had absolutely NO PROBLEM carrying around my suitcase and helping my sister with hers. Whether getting the suitcases off the carousel at baggage claim, up staircases, or on & off trains, IT WAS SO EASY!!! I attribute this ease to my work at IRON STRENGTH.

Iron Strength has also incorporated Original Strength into our workouts. This has improved my flexibility and has helped strengthen weaker parts of my upper body. This comes in very handy when running around after my new grandson.

I would recommend Iron Strength to anyone wanting great results and a supportive, positive workout environment.  I promise you will see the fruits of your labor and even make some new friends along the way. I know I have.  It has become a part of my everyday life and I am thankful for it!
